I like contrasts: outdoors vs. indoors, natural vs. man-made, physical vs. cerebral. This group will attempt to celebrate these contrasts through monthly activities that will usually combine a moderate walk or hike combined with a museum visit, or something similar in the realm of the visual arts. These events will start 10-11 AM on Sunday, and last 4-6 hours. You should be able to comfortably walk at least 5 miles within two hours. This will mostly be level walking on pavement or dirt paths, …

… Our goal is to enjoy the outdoors while meeting people interested in the same - not to conquer the mountains. Our hikes are also paced to keep everyone in the group more or less together through the entire hike. Weather is obviously a major factor in any of our hikes. We try not to cancel meet-ups for light rain - we are outdoors after all. However, in the case of forecasted heavy rain and/or lightning, we'll try to cancel those meet-ups about 24 hours ahead of time. I use weather.com radar maps …

This group would be good for people who want to do any of the following: meet new people, enjoy the outdoors and the company and conversation of others, reduce stress, improve health, lose weight, etc. Folks of all fitness levels are welcome!

This is a hiking group for people who, like me, hike at a slow and steady pace. I love the outdoors and I love hiking, but am often lagging behind. However, like the tortoise, I keep a steady pace and always get there in the end. We will do mostly medium-length hikes ( 4 - 6 miles) with elevation gains of under 1500 feet and a pace of book time +50%. Most hikes will be within a couple of hours drive from Worcester (there is another MeetUp for slower hikers that does hikes in White Mountains) but …
Hey Slackers! This group is for those who love to do outdoor events but also love to sleep in on weekend mornings. Some simple rules: No events before noon. Events are generally on weekends. Events are close to or easily accessible from Boston -- NO 12-hour drives to the White Mountains. No closing of pre-meetup registration early -- so people can make some last minute decisions based on how they're feeling. That's it! Let's have fun!
We are dedicated to outdoor activities combined with good beer/wine and good food. Join us on our weekend outings of hiking, snowshoeing, x-country skiing, kayaking, biking, horsebackriding, etc.. Share your favorite wine, cheese, snacks with energetic friends who like to "earn" the calories we so enjoy! These are NOT hard-core, survivalist elite level sporting events, but you do need to be in decent physical condition and bring your own equipment (and wine and foods to share of course!) Due t …
Things to do and people to do them with. Meet other busy people, and meetup members near you! A great networking opportunity, as well. Dances, sporting events, parties, bonfires and outdoor activities, theatre etc. will be posted, sometimes with other Meetups (the more the merrier:). I may even try a Real Estate seminar :) I'm BIG into live bands, esp. rock n' roll, so if you like to "rock on" and dance, you'll love this group. Any suggestions I'm always open, love to have more organizers, …

The purpose of our group is to get people together to learn and share information related to getting along in the great outdoors without a car or a radio or a barbecue grill. "Survival" means a lot of things to a lot of people and we'd love to hear your ideas on the topic. In the beginning we will probably get together infrequently, mostly for 2 or 3 night trips; the more people get involved, the more opportunities we'll have to meet up to talk and then go out to practice! Imagine hiking into …
