This is the local group of the national Sierra Club. We work to protect our community's natural resources and have fun doing so! We hold and sponsor workshops, lecture presentations, political engagement, work days in natural settings in our parks and fun outdoor recreational events. You don't have to be a member to attend an event! This particular group meets to discuss current environmental topics using the Orion magazine as resource.

Orienteering involves navigating a course generally in a park setting using a map and compass to find a series of markers called controls. It's the perfect "thinking sport" for people of all ages, families, nature lovers and serious athletes alike. ROC sponsors about twenty meets at local parks each year. This group is specifically designed for those who like to get outside for events on weekdays, be they retirees, "B" or "C" trick workers or the independently wealthy (never met one of those yet, but I know they exist)! Our meetings may be combined with breakfast or brunch at times; members are always welcome to submit event ideas. Pets are not included in posted events but pet owner members are certainly welcome to hold impromptu events on their own through message board postings.
